Comments - My relative, Alla Kolesnik (born Movchan) from the Ukraine, searches for her cousins, the Klippensteins who used to live in Radville in the 60-ies and maybe later: Heinrich and Maria and their children: Boris (born in 1946), Vladimir (born in 1949), Peter (born in 1950) and Laura (born in 1955) (the spelling of the names and dates may be inaccurate). Heinrich Klippenstein was a railroadman and they lived in a cottage close to the railroad. Maria Movchan and Heinrich Klippenstein met in Germany during World War II and then moved to Canada. Maria stayed in contact with her mother who lived in the Ukraine; after her mother died in 1960-ies, Maria|s brother Boris, Alla|s father, stopped any correspondence with his sister as contacts with foreigners were strongly discouraged in the Soviet Union. At that time, Alla was a child. She keeps letters and photos received from her cousins and desires to find them, but apparently they have moved away from Radville long ago. Alla does not speak English and asked me to help her. Maybe someone in Radville remembers the Klippensteins or could help to find anyone of them? Any news from her cousins would make Alla happy. If you have any information, could you please contact me at mnechepu@skadden.com? Thank you very much in advance.

Comments - My family and I left Radville in 1980, I was 15 years old. My favorite thoughts from Radville as a child are, Ice Rink, hockey games, swimming in the Celon pitt, going to Hanagans for fries after school, buying Popcorn and penny candy at the POPCORN stand on the weekends in the summer, and having lunch with my Grandma, Mary Drefko almost everyday eating chicken noodle soup and fried bologna. A wonderful place to grow up in.

Comments - Fay and Stephen Dionne and family would like to extend sincere thanks to all those whose support has meant so much to us during our recent loss. A special thanks to all who so generously and so tenderly assisted us in the care of our mother and grandmother, Opal Shropshire, during her lifetime in Radville. It meant a lot to us to know she was in such a caring community.
Our special thanks go out to her neighbours and friends, Alex and Fatima Karout, Bill and Willna Robertson and Pat and Franklin Ferguson. Your support has been immeasurable. Dr. Oberholzer, Opal respected, trusted and always felt a true sense of support in your care. You are a professional in every sense of the word and the community of Radville is so fortunate to have you there.
We are very thankful for all the cards and monetary gifts we received.

Comments - A nice website. I|ve always enjoyed visiting Radville. My "home town" is Big Valley ALberta and it too was a former Canadian Northern Railway terminal at one time. It is interesting that our railway station in Big Valley is located right at the corner of Main Street and Railway Avenue as in Radville and is virtually identical. Keep up the good work in making Radville a great place to be.

Comments - During the 1939/45 war I was stationed at R.A.F. Weyburn and used to spend my weekend furloughs with Don and Ethel Hunt, they lived in the telephone exchange. Don was in the oil industry and Ethel was the telephonist and was in charge of the exchange. They had two sons Donnie and Jerry. Also they had relations named Nimmegeers, I also stayed on Walter and Toots Nimmigeers farm just out of town. I know that Walter and Toots are now dead but they had a son Charlie I think and he worked in the Hudson Bay Company depot. I would be glad to hear from any of the Nimmegeers family still in the Radville area and also from the Hunt family. I do know that the Hunts moved away to Alberta. I was in Radville on a brief holiday in 1972 and met Walter|s son and his family for a short while. Although it was war time and my parents were in London during the Blitz I was made very welcome by the folk of Radville. It is a long time ago now and the chances of anyone remembering the R.A.F. airman learning to skate is very remote -- one never knows. Thanks for your patience in reading this appeal.
Ernest Turtle. Horncastle,Lincolnshire. 25th August 2005.

Comments - A reply to Shelly Aschim|s enquiry regarding great grandparents. This is copied directly from the Radville history book, published in 1983.
|James Hugh Bell & Minnie Myrtle Guest moved to Radville from Clearfield in 1943. They moved on to the Jimmy Davidson property and took over the dray business for several years. Minnie did day work, later they both worked in Clarke|s Cafe. They continued on after Kal Ernie took over the cafe. They worked up until the time of Jim|s passing in 1955 at the age of seventy-four years and ten months. Minnie rented her home and lived with Hazel Hurlbulrt, widowed, and three sons. Hazel remarried in 1961 to Theo Strzelczyk of Jenner, Alberta. In 1965 Minnie sold her home to Jake Becker and moved to Jenner, Ab. She resided with Theo & Hazel Strzelczyk there. In 1979 Minnie came to Moose Jaw. In 1980 she fell and brok her hip. She has been in the hospital for one and a half years, but has since been moved to St. Anthony|s Nursing Home where she now resides.|
There is also a photo of Jim & Minnie Bell in the book.

Comments - A message for Keith Klassen, enquiring about your grandfather. There is an E. Klassen listed in the RM Laurier cemetery records. It does not give a date of burial but as it is located in the old section he must have died many years ago. Could this be your grandfather? If you think it could be send another message and my husband, who is the cemetery groundskeeper, will check the gravestone for dates. There are no Klassens in the Radville history book.

Comments - I wonder if anyone might know any info about my story. I|m trying to trace a lady by the name of Eva Lavery whose maiden name would have been Jensen or Jenkins, we are not sure. And subsequently we are tring to find out what happend to her children, Eileen and William (Billy) Lavery. Eva was from the Radville area and went to teach at Willowview school in the Rockhaven, Cloan Saskatchewan area in the 1920|s. Eva Jensen or Jenkins met and mairred my great uncle Edward Lavery around 1925? in Rockhaven. Lastly, we know that Eddie and Eva and their two children moved from Saskatchewan and settled in the Vancouver BC area. That is where Eddie passed away in 1936 and we lost track of aunt Eva and the two children Elieen and Billy Lavery.

We urbanites (I have 6 more siblings) came to watch "the chicken with it|s head cut off", we road in the back of grain truck and tried to be "the last man in" as the truck unloaded. We got to milk cows and we planted potatos. We all loved the barn and the hay loft. We|d paly hide and seek with our cousins for hours. Hello to all Hubert and Vic|s families!

Found this web page browsing for Drefko name. I lived on the farm at Tribune and left home at 17 to live in Regina, I then moved to Windsor, lived there for a couple years and moved to Oakville where I married a Windsor man and we have 3 girls. When mom and dad moved to Radville I visited them many times and enjoyed the small town atmosphere. Even though I didn|t know many people there except the Gilmore family (Wilfred is my brother in law) I did love going there to visit. But Tribune is and always will be "HOME." I do recognize some of the names. I enjoyed reading all the comments.

Comments - Compliments on the webpage. Enjoyed reading the Guest book entries. Many family names were familiar to me and I wondered how many were delivered by myself and Dr.Bob Sollars during our practice 1956 - 1961. My last visit was about 1970. Since then I moved from Red Deer to Regina and entered practice in Aviation Medicine for the Federal Government. Later in 1982 I developed a private consulting practice in high risk industries. I retired to Vancouver Island in 2003. Frequently I reflect on the wonderful people of the Radville and district community. Best wishes to everybody.

Comments - Just browsing through our web site. This is directed primarily to Helen Dahlstrom - nee Underbakke and Austin Underbakke. You may be interested to know that the Chamber of Commerce is restoring our CN Station as a centennial project. It|s quite an undertaking but we have only started a month ago and already have many volunteers lined up. We will proceed as funds become available and are quite excited about it all. Most of the furnishings and artifacts related to the station have long ago disappeared but hopefully some will find their way back here eventually. Just thought you would be interested. The Radville Star web site likely has more info on it.

Comments - I was in Radville but moved to Regina before I was 2. No matter where I go I meet someone from sask who knows of Radville and area. Many of my relatives lived there for years and as I grew up in Regina we visited there often. Now my home is in Kelowna. An annual Radville picnic is hosted here on the second Sunday of September. This year is the first one I attended. More than 50 past residents of Radville attend this annuial event from Sask, Alberta and BC. It was exciting to meet so many people and put faces to the tp put faces to the names I know. Great job to the organizers.

Comments - My name is Kyle, I like basketball, I|m trying out for the team this year, I think we will be great. I hope I make starting point guard this year because I have been practising my three pointers and I am pretty good at sinking fade aways, never mind my high vertical. That|s all I have to say.

Comments - This is just wonderful Radville. I moved to Radville from Hanley (where I was born) at the age of 4 in 1927 where my father Oscar Underbakke was station agent until 1946 when he went to Moose Jaw as agent. I joined the RCAF in 1942 and came back an worked at the station for a year. The last time I was in Radville was the 1985 re-union. I recognise some of the names in your guest book. Would love to re-visit a town with such great spirit.

Comments - Finally checked your guest-book and really enjoyed reading notes from former residents. I took all my schooling in Radville. Always visited from time to time and enjoyed it. However, in the past 5 years my visits have been more freguent, due to illness and aging of my family. I have truly appreciated Radville for their openess and their willingness to make everything so easy to do........quite difficult to explain, altho| know that some of the business I have been doing would have been a nightmare of red-tape in the city, but where everyone knew me (altho| I didn|t remember a lot of them) things seem to go so smoothly.......whether dealing with the bank, credit union, pharmacy, post office, nursing home, hospital. A big bouquet to all of Radville........you made some very difficult situationa a thousand times easier. Thank you from the bottom of my heart

I heard of Radville from Robert Verhelst. The moment he described it to me I knew I had found my place in the world.
Thank you for being there.

Comments - Good job! Very informative site. Just wondering if anyone in Radville has a home based business? If I was new to the area I may be looking for an Avon lady, Party Light, Pampered Chef, etc.

Comments - Still look forward to visiting the old home town, and it is still considered "going home" even though I have been gone for 30 years. Great place to go and relax and have a great steak in the hotel. Or great baking, soup and sandwiches at "Genies Place" Just a plug for one of the 3 sisters that are still residing in Radville.

Comments - I must say that your website is splendid, and it perfectly illustrates your beautiful town and close community, set in a wonderful part of the world. I am lucky enough to have one of my countrymen living there, so will be visiting soon. However, even if I wasn|t coming to visit my friend, after viewing you site I would have visited anyway - just to come and spend some time in such lovely surrounds and good company. Best regards, Stuart Sterzel - sasterzel@mweb.co.za
